Circle R (designed by Reinsman) Bit. Offset Dee, Twisted Dog Bone Snaffle. 5" Mouth. 3" Cheeks. Stage A.
This mouthpiece is twisted to add some bite, has three breaks over the tongue & bars at an angle to distribute tongue pressure more evenly than a single break, and the dog bone center puts pressure on the tongue to help rate and set a horse's head. The offset dee applies pressure to the horse's cheek for better flexion and turns. The sweet iron twist naturally rusts into a light patina and the rust creates a sweet taste for the horse which makes the bit more acceptable and increases salivation for a supple mouth. Mullen relief, a forward curve that creates even pressure across the bars and tongue to eliminate the nutcracker effect, is used on all Reinsman snaffle mouthpieces
